The body of laborer Mahesh was found in an orchard in Kindi Pur market, located in the Chanda police station area of Sultanpur, on Wednesday night with his throat slit. The police revealed the details of this incident on Friday. The condition of the body and the investigation made it clear that a heinous method of murder was adopted – the wife herself got her husband's throat slit by her lover, and she also struck him with bricks.
Accused - The accused were Mahesh's wife, Pooja, and her lover, Jaiprakash (alias Dangar). The police stated that the two had been in a relationship for about a year. Jaiprakash sold diesel and petrol and used to visit their home.
Conspiracy to Murder - Mahesh worked as a laborer in Ludhiana, but after returning home at the beginning of this year, he did not go back, which created an obstacle for Pooja and Jaiprakash to meet. On Wednesday evening, the two made Mahesh drunk by giving him alcohol. Jaiprakash pushed him down under a tree and murdered him on the spot. Pooja also participated by striking him with bricks.
Act and Evidence: After the murder, the accused staged a "drama" among the people as if nothing had happened. However, the police recovered a knife buried in the soil at the crime scene, a blood-stained shirt, and bricks, which made the evidence clear. Upon examining Pooja's mobile call details, the police found that she and Jaiprakash had been in regular contact for the past six months. They had called each other approximately 20 times on the day of the incident, which clarified the conspiracy to murder. Both accused were arrested and sent to jail.
