IT sector giant, Wipro Limited, has given a major gift to its investors after the impressive results of the first quarter of FY 2025-26. The company has declared a final dividend of ₹6 per share in its board meeting.
Investors are delighted with this decision of Wipro, as this dividend is being given on a share with a face value of ₹2, which translates to a final dividend of 250 percent.
When Will the Dividend Be Received, What is the Record Date?
The company stated in its exchange filing that this dividend will be given to those shareholders whose names are recorded in the company's register by July 28, 2025. That is, July 28 has been fixed as the record date.
The dividend will be paid on or before August 15, 2025. Investors may receive the payment through bank account or via a check sent to their registered address.
Dividend of ₹6, But Why is it Being Called 250 Percent?
The face value of a Wipro share is only ₹2, and when a company declares a dividend against the face value, it is shown in percentage.
₹6 dividend against ₹2 face value, i.e., 250 percent.
This does not mean that the shareholder will get a 250 percent return on his investment, but this percentage is the figure stated based on the face value.
Company's Strong Performance in Quarterly Results
Wipro recently released its first quarter, i.e., April-June 2025 results.
In this quarter, the company's consolidated net profit stood at ₹3,336.5 crore, with a growth of 9.87 percent. In the same quarter last year, the company's profit was ₹3,036.6 crore.
According to the company's regulatory filing, the total revenue during the quarter was ₹22,134.6 crore, which is 0.78 percent more than the ₹21,963.8 crore in the first quarter of last year.
Although the growth has been marginal, according to the company, this has been possible by increasing efficiency and better coordination with clients.
Wipro's Performance in the Stock Market
Amidst the dividend announcement and quarterly results, Wipro's share closed with a slight decline on Thursday.
A fall of 0.7 percent was seen in the company's share and it closed at a price of ₹260 per share. However, some movement can be seen in the upcoming trading sessions after the dividend news.
Wipro's shares have been stable in the last few months, but the market will keep an eye on it due to positive signals like deal pipeline and dividend.
What Has Been Said By The Company?
Wipro has said that this dividend reflects the company's financial strength and commitment to the shareholders. The company stated that this payout has been decided on the basis of the balance between its cash reserve and growth strategy.
The company is currently focusing on emerging areas like digital services, cyber security, cloud infrastructure and AI solutions.
Which Investors Will Benefit?
All those investors who have purchased the company's shares by July 28, 2025, and whose names are recorded in the company's register on that day, will be eligible for this dividend.
If investors buy shares one or two days before the record date and the shares are transferred, they will also be considered eligible for the dividend.
However, dividend benefits will not be available on shares purchased after the record date.
Festive Gift for Investors
IT sector companies generally focus more on capital growth instead of dividends, but this time Wipro has given cash rewards to the shareholders along with profits.
After this announcement of 250 percent, there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the investors.
