Zakary Foulkes Shines with Four Wickets on Test Debut Against Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first in the second match of the 2-Test series being played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, but this decision proved costly for them.

Sports News: In the second match of the 2-Test series between Zimbabwe and New Zealand being played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Kiwi team's young fast bowler, Zakary Foulkes, caught the attention of the cricket world with a brilliant performance in his debut Test. The 23-year-old pacer broke the back of the host team's batting lineup by taking 4 wickets in his very first innings.

Zakary Foulkes' Golden Debut

Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine won the toss and decided to bat first, but the New Zealand bowlers kept the pressure on from the start. By the second session of the first day, the host team was bundled out for just 125 runs in 48.5 overs. Only a few batsmen managed to cross the double-figure mark, while the rest could not withstand New Zealand's sharp bowling.

Zakary Foulkes has already debuted for New Zealand in the T20 and ODI formats, but this was his first match in Test cricket. He made his debut memorable by taking 4 wickets for 38 runs in 16 overs.

A Glimpse of International Career

Before this match, Zakary Foulkes had played 1 ODI and 13 T20 International matches for New Zealand. While he hadn't taken a wicket in ODIs yet, he had taken 15 wickets in T20s. His high pace and accurate line and length are considered his strengths, and he demonstrated the same skill in the Test format in Bulawayo.

Apart from Zakary Foulkes, New Zealand's experienced pacer Matt Henry also bowled brilliantly once again. Henry, who performed brilliantly in the first Test, took 5 wickets for 40 runs in 15 overs in the first innings of the second Test. He played an important role in demolishing Zimbabwe's batting order.
In addition, Matthew Fisher also took a wicket.
