Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed Yulia Svyrydenko as the country's next Prime Minister, marking a significant change in the nation's politics. If the parliament approves this proposal, Yulia Svyrydenko will be on her way to becoming Ukraine's first female Prime Minister.

President Zelensky shared this information through his official social media post and said that he is starting the process of change at the executive level in Ukraine.

President Zelensky's Statement

President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in his post, "We are starting the process of change in the executive branch in Ukraine. I have nominated Yulia Svyrydenko as the next head of the Ukrainian government. I believe that Yulia will play an important role in bringing the country out of the current economic and administrative challenges and will make the functioning of the government more modern and effective." The President further said that he would soon present a framework for the work program under the new government to the whole world.

Who is Yulia Svyrydenko?

Yulia Svyrydenko was born in Chernihiv, Ukraine, in 1985. She completed her education in Kyiv. In 2008, she graduated from the Kyiv International University of Trade and Economics. After studying, she started her career as a financial economist. She took her initial professional steps with the Ukrainian-Andora real estate company in Kyiv.

Yulia Svyrydenko has held several important positions in the Ukrainian government over the past few years. Since 2021, she has been serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of the country. Along with this, she was also assigned the responsibility of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade. She is counted among the most influential and practical leaders of Ukraine. During the wartime conditions, she played an important role in handling the country's economic policies and made several successful efforts regarding foreign investment.

Yulia's administrative experience gives her a special understanding of Ukraine's economic structure and development model. She has previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff in the President's Office of Ukraine.

Why was this decision taken?
