Kedarnath Yatra Halted as Landslide Blocks Route in Sonprayag

The Kedarnath Yatra in Sonprayag, Uttarakhand, was halted when heavy debris and large boulders fell onto the road from the mountain after heavy rainfall near Munkatiya. This landslide has completely blocked the travel route, and the administration has stopped further movement, prioritizing the safety of the pilgrims.

The incident occurred last night when the mountainside began to collapse following a sudden downpour, and boulders and debris quickly fell onto the roads. This caused chaos in the entire area. Many pilgrims managed to escape, but some people were injured. The SDRF team, engaged in rescue and relief operations, immediately transported the injured to the hospital, where they are being treated.

Currently, all travelers are being held in Sonprayag. Similarly, pilgrims returning from above are also being accommodated in safe locations. As there is a continuing risk of debris falling from the mountain, the administration has completely closed the route. The work of clearing the path is proceeding rapidly, and the administration is continuously monitoring the situation.

Kedarnath Route Obstructed by Debris and Boulders

The Kedarnath Yatra in Sonprayag, Rudraprayag district, has once again been halted due to heavy debris and boulders falling from the mountain. After heavy rainfall last night near Munkatiya, the mountainside suddenly began to collapse, and large boulders fell onto the road, completely blocking the route. SDRF and administrative teams have reached the spot, and the work of removing the debris is underway with the help of JCB machines.

A video of this incident is also going viral on social media, clearly showing stones falling from the mountain and pilgrims running around to save themselves. The entire area was covered with falling boulders and clouds of dust, resulting in minor injuries to some travelers. Due to the continuous rainfall, there is a risk of debris falling from the mountains in Rudraprayag and surrounding areas. The administration has appealed to the pilgrims to undertake the yatra only after considering the weather conditions and to remain vigilant.
