Significant Archaeological Discovery Unearthed in Rajasthan, Revealing Ancient Civilizations

An important historical discovery has been made in the village of Bahaj, located in the Deeg tehsil of Bharatpur district, Rajasthan, through excavations conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The excavations have unearthed several significant artifacts related to the Mahabharata, Mauryan, and Shunga periods, including pottery, metal weapons, ancient sculptures, and a human skeleton. This discovery points towards the historical richness and the presence of an ancient civilization in the region.

The archaeological department has sent the human skeleton to Israel for scientific analysis, while the other artifacts are being examined in a laboratory in Jaipur. Some of the artifacts have been put on display at the Deeg Jal Mahal Museum. Experts believe that Bahaj village was an important cultural center from the Mahabharata period to the Mauryan and Shunga eras. The excavation is still ongoing, and archaeologists expect to find more important historical information from this site.

Archaeological Department Engaged in Scientific Investigation

A significant historical discovery has emerged from Bahaj village in Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. Archaeological excavations, which commenced in January 2025 after receiving permission from the central government, have revealed important artifacts related to the Mahabharata, Mauryan, and Shunga periods.
