Tamil and Telugu Actor Srikanth Arrested in Drug Case

Popular Tamil and Telugu actor, Srikanth, has been arrested in a drug case. Sources indicate that the actor is facing serious allegations of purchasing and consuming cocaine. Police have taken him into custody for questioning, and the investigation is underway.

Drug Case: Shocking news has emerged from the South Indian film industry. Well-known Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth, also known as 'Sriram' in Telugu cinema, has been implicated in a drug case. Chennai police arrested him on charges of purchasing and consuming cocaine. He is currently in custody, undergoing interrogation, and his drug network is being investigated.

What is the Full Story?

According to Asianet News, the case is linked to a fight at a bar in Chennai's Nungambakkam area. Following the altercation, police arrested former AIADMK leader Prasad on charges of drug consumption. During questioning, Prasad made a startling revelation—he confessed to supplying cocaine and other narcotics to Srikanth.

Police sources state that Srikanth allegedly purchased one gram of cocaine for ₹12,000. Subsequently, the police summoned him for questioning and collected a blood sample for medical examination; the report is awaited.

Speedy Investigation, Further Action Pending Report

Srikanth was taken into police custody on Monday. A medical examination is being conducted to confirm his involvement with drugs. If the blood report is positive, the actor will face strict action under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act). Police are not limiting the investigation to the actor's drug use but are also probing a potential drug supply chain that may involve other figures from the political and film industries.

Srikanth's Film Career: From Small Screen to Big Screen

Srikanth began his career in 1999 with K. Balachander's TV serial, 'Jannal-Marabu Kavithaiagl'. Transitioning from modeling to acting, he made his big-screen debut in 2002 with the Tamil film 'Roja Kootam'. In 2003, he entered the Telugu film industry with 'Okaariki Okadu' and quickly established himself as a romantic hero. His notable films include:

  • Kana Kanden
  • Oru Naal Koothu
  • Bambara Kannale
  • Manasellam
  • Mercury Pookkal
  • Nanban

Srikanth's arrest has reignited concerns about drug connections within the South Indian film industry. Previously, several South Indian stars, including Ragini Dwivedi, Kishor, and Rahul, were also in the headlines for drug-related cases. Following Bollywood, this serious social issue has now come under the radar of law enforcement agencies in the South Indian film industry.
