Varanasi - Despite an easing of fog conditions, train delays continue unabated. On Thursday, the Mahakal Express, arriving from Indore to Varanasi, reached Varanasi Cantt Railway Station approximately 14 hours behind schedule. The train was initially rescheduled by around 10 hours, but the actual delay proved to be even greater.

In addition to the Mahakal Express, several other long-distance trains also arrived in Varanasi hours late, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. The New Delhi-Jaynagar Swatantrata Sainani Express was delayed by approximately 10 hours, the New Delhi-Banaras Superfast by seven and a half hours, the Farakka Express by seven hours, and the Shivganga Express by over six hours. The Lichchavi Express and Mahamana Express also arrived considerably later than their scheduled times.

Railway officials state that the fog initially impacted train operations, however, even with improved weather, trains have not fully returned to their normal schedules. The continued delays have led to passenger frustration, and a growing crowd of people waiting at the station.
