Gold-Silver Price: Indian markets are witnessing continuous fluctuations in gold and silver prices. While prices saw an increase on Friday, no change is expected today, Saturday, due to market closure. Friday's slight price increase in both gold and silver has maintained investor interest.

Gold Prices: 24 Karat to 14 Karat

According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), 24-karat (999) gold has reached ₹86,059 per 10 grams. 23-karat (995) gold is priced at ₹85,714 per 10 grams. 22-karat (916) gold has dropped to ₹78,830 per 10 grams, while 18-karat (750) gold is priced at ₹64,544 and 14-karat (585) gold at ₹50,345 per 10 grams. Silver prices also saw an increase, with 24-karat (999) silver priced at ₹96,724 per kilogram.

Gold Prices Decline in the National Capital

Delhi's bullion market witnessed a decline in gold prices on Friday. 99.9% pure gold fell by ₹200, reaching ₹88,900 per 10 grams, while 99.5% pure gold reached ₹88,500 per 10 grams. Experts attribute this decline to weak demand from domestic jewelers and buyers. However, silver prices increased by ₹500, reaching ₹99,500 per kilogram.

Gold and Silver Trends in the Futures Market

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) also saw fluctuations in gold and silver prices. April delivery gold reached ₹85,983 per 10 grams, while global gold futures traded at $2,929.30 per ounce. Silver for May delivery contracts was priced at ₹97,919 per kilogram. Globally, silver futures in New York reached $32.58 per ounce.

Understanding Hallmarked Gold and Verification

Hallmarking is crucial for ensuring gold purity. 22-karat gold, with 91.6% purity, is commonly used in jewelry. However, adulterated gold with 89% or 90% purity is sometimes falsely sold as 22-karat. Therefore, always check the hallmarking when buying jewelry. Identify the hallmark by checking the numbers stamped on the gold:

999 - 24-karat gold (99.9% pure)
916 - 22-karat gold (91.6% pure)
750 - 18-karat gold (75.0% pure)
585 - 14-karat gold (58.5% pure)
