Latest Gold Prices in Major Cities

Across various cities in India, slight differences in gold prices were observed in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Noida, Ayodhya, Gurugram, and Chandigarh. In Delhi and Jaipur, 22-carat gold reached ₹80,660 per 10 grams, and 24-carat gold reached ₹87,980 per 10 grams. Why is Gold Hallmarking Important?

Jewelry primarily uses 22-carat gold, which has a purity of 91.6 percent. However, adulteration sometimes occurs, with gold of 89 or 90 percent purity being sold as 22-carat. Therefore, always check the hallmarking when buying jewelry.

Hallmarking indicates the purity of gold. A hallmark of 375 signifies 37.5 percent gold purity. Similarly, 585 indicates 58.5 percent purity, 750 indicates 75.0 percent, 916 indicates 91.6 percent, 990 indicates 99.0 percent, and 999 indicates 99.9 percent pure gold.

How to Check Gold Hallmarks?

Each carat of gold has a specific hallmark indicating its purity. For example, 24-carat gold is marked 999, 23-carat is marked 958, 22-carat is marked 916, 21-carat is marked 875, and 18-carat is marked 750. This eliminates any doubt regarding the gold's quality.
