BJP Wins Sonipat Mayoral By-Election by Landslide Victory

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a resounding victory in the Sonipat mayoral by-election in Haryana. BJP candidate Rajiv Jain defeated Congress candidate Kamal Diwan by a significant margin of 34,766 votes, securing the mayoral position.

Haryana: The results of the Sonipat Municipal Corporation mayoral by-election have been declared, with BJP's Rajiv Jain emerging victorious. He defeated his nearest rival, Congress's Kamal Diwan, by a substantial margin of 34,766 votes. The election saw participation from Rajiv Jain (BJP), Kamal Diwan (Congress), Dharmveer (BSP), Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Saini (AAP), and independent candidate Ramesh Khatri.

However, the main contest was primarily between Rajiv Jain and Kamal Diwan. From the start of the vote count at 8 am on Wednesday, the BJP candidate maintained a lead that persisted until the end.

BJP's Victory, Major Setback for Congress

A total of five candidates contested the Sonipat mayoral election: Rajiv Jain (BJP), Kamal Diwan (Congress), Dharmveer (BSP), Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Saini (AAP), and independent candidate Ramesh Khatri. The main contest, however, remained between the BJP and Congress. This victory represents a significant setback for the Congress party.

Along with Sonipat, the BJP also achieved success in the Hathin Municipal Council elections. BJP candidate Renu Lata defeated independent candidate Aabha.
