Pandit Prabhakar Karekar was particularly known for bhajans like "Bolwa Vitthal Pahava Vitthal" and "Vakratunda Mahakaya." He was an excellent singer and a dedicated teacher. Karekar also performed as a graded artist on All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan. He received intensive training in classical music from great gurus like Pandit Suresh Haldankar, Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, and Pandit C.R. Vyas.

Born in Antruz Mahal, Goa, Karekar learned Hindustani classical music under the tutelage of Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki and showcased his art on various platforms across the globe."
CM Sawant further wrote that Pandit Karekar made a significant contribution to the preservation and propagation of classical music in Goa. His musical legacy will live on through his disciples and admirers.
