Delhi CM Rekha Gupta presented a ₹1 lakh crore budget. Opposition leader Atishi criticized the government, questioning the budget's creation without an economic survey.

Delhi Budget 2025: During the presentation of the 2025-26 budget in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition (LOP) Atishi launched a sharp attack on the government. She stated that the Delhi government itself admitted to not conducting any analysis before formulating the budget. Atishi specifically questioned the absence of an economic survey, typically presented before the budget presentation.

"Presenting a budget without an economic survey is unusual" - Atishi

Speaking to reporters, Atishi said, "Is it appropriate for the government to claim they are creating a budget after reviewing Delhi's financial situation? This implies the Delhi government admits to not conducting any analysis for this budget." She further added, "We have never seen any government present a budget without an economic survey before."

CM Rekha Gupta presents a historic budget

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the 2025-26 budget for the national capital on Tuesday. Describing it as historic, she stated that it represents a shift towards a developed Delhi from a dilapidated economy. The CM said in the Assembly, "This is no ordinary budget. Delhi and the entire country are watching. This budget is 31.5% higher than last year's."

Significant investment in women's empowerment and infrastructure

The Chief Minister announced an allocation of ₹5,100 crore for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana (Women's Prosperity Scheme). Furthermore, ₹28,000 crore has been proposed for infrastructure development in the national capital. She also mentioned an allocation of ₹1,000 crore for improved connectivity with the NCR region.

₹2144 crore announced under Ayushman Yojana

CM Gupta stated that the Delhi government has allocated ₹2144 crore under the Ayushman Yojana. This scheme aims to provide a five lakh rupee top-up to Delhi residents.

New schemes for security

A plan to install over 50,000 cameras has been formulated to enhance women's safety. ₹3,843 crore has been allocated for road and bridge infrastructure, and ₹696 crore for providing basic amenities in slums.
