Akhilesh Yadav Targets Yogi Government After Wakf Amendment Bill Introduced in Lok Sabha.
UP Politics: The Wakf Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. The bill's introduction sparked immediate debate, with Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and Kannauj MP, using it as a platform to sharply criticize the Uttar Pradesh government.
Mention of Restrictions on Maha Kumbh and Eid
Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of restrictions imposed by the administration in various districts during the recently concluded Maha Kumbh and Eid celebrations. He accused the Yogi government of mismanagement during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, claiming administrative negligence resulted in over 1,000 people going missing. He further alleged that the government invited 100 crore people without a concrete plan, leading to loss of life.
The SP president also criticized the government for restrictions imposed during Eid. He stated that leaders from all religions usually participate in Eid celebrations, but this time, the government imposed various restrictions.
Allegations of Rigging in By-elections
During his Lok Sabha address, Akhilesh Yadav mentioned the Milkipur by-election in Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that the BJP government prevented a fair election and stopped people from exercising their franchise. He pointed towards Awadhesh Prasad, the SP MP from Faizabad, stating that he had witnessed firsthand how people were prevented from voting.
Sarcasm on BJP's Internal Affairs
While discussing the Wakf Bill, Akhilesh Yadav also commented on the BJP's internal affairs. He quipped that there was a competition within the BJP to determine "who is the worst Hindu." He also satirized the BJP's national president selection process.
He stated, "The BJP, which calls itself the world's largest party, has not yet been able to elect its national president." In response, Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the BJP elects its president through a democratic process, unlike parties like the SP where only family members make such decisions. Shah retorted sarcastically, "Akhilesh Ji, no one can stop you from remaining president for 25 years."
Samajwadi Party Opposes Wakf Bill
Akhilesh Yadav clearly declared that the Samajwadi Party would completely oppose the bill, deeming it unacceptable and a violation of the rights of the minority community.
