Patna: Political heat is intensifying in Bihar ahead of the state assembly elections later this year. A recent survey has unveiled surprising data on public preference for the Chief Minister's position. According to this survey, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has surpassed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the race for the Chief Minister's post. Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor (PK)'s popularity is also rising, potentially altering the electoral equation.
Who will be Bihar's next Chief Minister?
This C-Voter survey indicates that 41% of people want Tejashwi Yadav as Bihar's next Chief Minister. In contrast, only 18% desire Nitish Kumar's reappointment. Notably, 15% of respondents expressed their preference for Prashant Kishor, placing him ahead of BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary (8%) and Chirag Paswan (4%).
50% Dissatisfied with Nitish Kumar's Government
The survey also revealed that 50% of Bihar's population is dissatisfied with the current Nitish Kumar government and desires a change. Conversely, 22% are dissatisfied but not in favor of a change. 25% reported satisfaction with the government and did not feel a change was necessary. Unemployment has emerged as the most pressing issue in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. According to the survey:
* 45% cited unemployment as their top priority.
* 11% considered inflation the most significant problem.
* 10% identified electricity, water, and roads as key election issues.
* Only 4% expressed concerns about agriculture and corruption.
Will RJD be the largest party again?
In the 2020 assembly elections, RJD emerged as the largest party with 75 seats, while BJP won 74 and JDU secured 43. The changing public sentiment and decline in Nitish Kumar's popularity could lead to significant shifts in Bihar's political landscape. Prashant Kishor's growing popularity presents a new variable for political analysts.
The survey data clearly suggests a growing discourse around a potential change in power in Bihar. However, the election is still some time away, and the political equation may evolve. Nevertheless, it's certain that this election will revolve around three key figures: Tejashwi Yadav, Nitish Kumar, and Prashant Kishor.
