Drawing a parallel to the Kedarnath tragedy, she said that just as a rock protected a temple then, the Lieutenant Governor has saved Delhi from destruction. She highlighted that previous governments only made promises, while the BJP government is demonstrating tangible progress on the ground.
Tree Plantation Drive Inaugurated at Bhalswa Landfill
The Chief Minister and the Lieutenant Governor inaugurated a tree plantation drive at the Bhalswa landfill site. Over two thousand bamboo saplings have been planted on approximately five acres of land cleared of waste. The plan is to plant 54,000 saplings within the next one to one and a half months, transforming the area into a green space.
Double Engine Government Working at an Accelerated Pace
Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated their commitment to making Delhi pollution-free and beautiful. They emphasized that the BJP's double-engine government is working at double the speed to convert the landfill site into green land. The Chief Minister stated that previous governments only discussed the mountain of garbage but made no effective attempts to reduce it. Now, with the central government's support, this work is progressing rapidly.
Bhalswa Landfill to be Eliminated in Two Years - LG
In an interaction with the media, the Lieutenant Governor stated that significant progress has been made in clearing the landfill site over the past two years through hard work. He mentioned that bamboo trees produce the highest amount of oxygen, releasing 30% more than other trees. In the coming months, people traveling on the highway will see a green area instead of a mountain of garbage.
BJP Government Achieves What Previous Governments Could Not
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attributed the entire success of this initiative to the Lieutenant Governor. She stated that previous governments only talked but did not act. With the help of the central government, the waste is being properly utilized and used for land leveling. Millions of tons of garbage have been removed, and the area has been restructured.
Monthly Inspections of Landfill Sites
The Chief Minister stated that the work will be reviewed monthly, and inspections will be conducted at the three main landfill sites. Within a year, the height of these garbage mountains will be reduced, and they will be transformed into green spaces. She emphasized that making Delhi clean and beautiful is the government's goal, and it will be fulfilled with complete responsibility.
