A man brutally murdered his four innocent children before taking his own life. The incident sent shockwaves through the entire village. Upon receiving information, the Superintendent of Police (SP) and other officials arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
Father Slits Children's Throats with a Butcher Knife
The perpetrator has been identified as Rajiv Kumar. He slit the throats of his four children—Kriti (12), Srishti (9), Pragati (7), and Rishabh (5)—before hanging himself. Police recovered a blood-stained butcher knife at the scene, the apparent murder weapon.
Crime Committed After Wife's Departure to Her Parental Home
According to the family, Rajiv's wife, Kranti, had gone to her parental home in Karauli village, Fatehganj East, Bareilly, a day before the incident. Rajiv's father, Prithviraj, stated that he had gone to supervise sugarcane planting in the fields. When he returned home around 8 am, he found the main door locked from inside. After calling out for a while without receiving a response, he scaled the wall, entering the house to discover the horrific scene.
Rajiv Suffered from Mental Stress
Prithviraj revealed that Rajiv had suffered a serious head injury two years ago, leading to persistent mental distress. The family suspects that this mental stress prompted him to take this drastic step.
Police Suspect Suicide
SP Rajesh Dwivedi stated that the circumstances suggest Rajiv murdered his children before committing suicide. The police are awaiting the arrival of the deceased's wife to question her and ascertain the full truth. Currently, the village is shrouded in mourning, and the police investigation is ongoing.
