A shooting resulting from a dispute over water occurred between the nephews of Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, in Navgachhia. One nephew died, while the other is hospitalized in critical condition.
Bhagalpur News: A minor dispute escalated into a deadly conflict between two nephews of Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai—Jayjeet Yadav and Vikal Yadav—in Jagatpur, Navgachhia, Bhagalpur, on Thursday morning. Both exchanged gunfire, resulting in Vikal's immediate death, while Jayjeet remains critically injured. Doctors have recommended his transfer for advanced medical care.
Dispute over Water Escalates
According to eyewitnesses, around 6:30 AM, a servant serving Jayjeet water dipped his hand into the water container, sparking an argument between Vikal and Jayjeet. Their relationship was already strained, and this minor disagreement quickly turned violent.
Vikal Attacks with a Pistol
As the argument intensified, Vikal Yadav retrieved a pistol and shot Jayjeet in the face. The bullet grazed his jaw, causing him to fall to the ground. However, Jayjeet quickly recovered, wrestled the pistol from Vikal, and shot him at close range, resulting in his immediate death.
Chaos Ensues; Police Investigate
Following the incident, family members rushed Vikal to Navgachhia hospital, where he was declared dead. Jayjeet's condition remains critical.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Range IG Vivek Kumar directed the Navgachhia SP to immediately inspect the scene and implement robust security measures. The police have launched an investigation, and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team has been summoned. The entire incident is being videographed, and electronic evidence is being collected.
