Last Updated: 1 day ago

Robert Vadra summoned by ED to appear on April 15th in a land deal case. He was previously summoned on April 8th but did not appear.

New Delhi: Robert Vadra, husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, has been summoned again by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He has been called for questioning under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a land deal case. Vadra has been ordered to appear before the ED on April 15th. He was previously summoned on April 8th but did not appear.

Why has Robert Vadra been summoned?

The ED has summoned Robert Vadra in connection with a controversial 2018 land deal in Gurugram involving a significant property transfer. The case relates to a 3.5-acre land transfer between Skylight Hospitality and DLF. Allegations of fraud, violation of regulations, and money laundering are involved.

What are the allegations?

Arvind Kejriwal alleged in 2011 that Robert Vadra received an interest-free loan of ₹65 crore from DLF Limited and paid a substantial sum for the land in return. It was also alleged that this loan was obtained for political advantage. Vadra is also accused of illegally acquiring assets through this deal.

Vadra's Statement

Robert Vadra expressed his desire to enter politics a day earlier, on Ambedkar Jayanti. He stated that if given the opportunity by the public, he would enter politics using his strengths. Vadra also mentioned that if such an opportunity arises in the future, he will work with full dedication and diligence. However, he has expressed this desire to enter politics on several occasions before.

ED's Stance

Despite the Enforcement Directorate's summons and investigation, Robert Vadra has repeatedly termed the case as politically motivated. However, the ED has continued its investigation against Vadra, and new leads are emerging in the case. Allegations of corruption, money laundering, and fraud have been leveled against Robert Vadra, which are now being investigated by the ED.

Further Action

With Robert Vadra appearing before the ED on April 15th, his questioning may reveal crucial information in the case. A complete investigation into this land deal will determine the impact of the allegations against Vadra and the future direction of the case.
