The Shiromani Akali Dal may get a new president this month. A decision on Sukhbir Badal's appointment is likely to be made at a meeting on April 8th. The announcement of by-election candidates will also be made.

Punjab News: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is gearing up for organizational changes. The party is likely to get a new president this month. A working committee meeting has been called on April 8th to finalize the name of the next president.

State Delegates to Elect the President

A meeting held on Saturday at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Model Town, discussed the selection of four state delegates from each of six assembly constituencies. Party working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar has been entrusted with the responsibility of selecting these delegates, who will then elect the party's next president.

Near-Unanimous Consensus on Sukhbir Badal

The post-meeting atmosphere suggests a near-certain appointment of Sukhbir Singh Badal as the president. Former cabinet minister Hira Singh Gabbaddia also hinted at this during the meeting.

Recruitment Observer Darbara Singh Guru emphasized the need to elect district, state, and general delegates before April 8th, and the mandatory registration of their signatures for legal validity.

Questions Raised on the Recruitment Process

Questions were raised regarding the selection process. The meeting discussed the recruitment process being undertaken by a five-member committee, with some speakers objecting to Manpreet Ayali's comments and reiterating respect for the Jathedars.

By-election Candidate Announcement Next Week

Former IAS officer Darbara Singh Guru and other leaders stated in the meeting that the Shiromani Akali Dal has never been weak and will move forward unitedly. Bhupinder Singh Bhinda thanked all the leaders and spoke of contesting the by-elections in an organized manner.

Senior party leaders Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Hira Singh Gabbaddia, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, and several others were present at this important meeting.
