Shiv Sena UBT Opposes Waqf Amendment Bill

Arvind Sawant questioned the government's intentions, expressed concerns over the nomination process, and stated, "We will not support it if it is wrong."

Waqf Amendment Bill: Uddhav Thackeray's party, Shiv Sena UBT, has clearly stated its stance on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. Arvind Sawant, MP from Mumbai South, questioned the government's motives, claiming the bill's objective is not to deliver justice. He alleged a discrepancy between the government's words and actions, asserting that the bill lacks positive intent.

Sawant Challenges CM Fadnavis

Arvind Sawant challenged Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, asking if he would teach Hindutva to the Shiv Sena UBT. He also pointed out the decline in Fadnavis's party's vote share in Ayodhya and Varanasi, suggesting their actions might be misguided. Sawant bly objected to the government's approach, stating that after "Sougat-e-Modi" (Modi's gifts), they have now brought the "Sougat-e-Waqf Bill" (Waqf Bill as a gift).

Serious Questions Raised Against the Government

Sawant also reminded everyone of the Muslim community's sacrifices in India's freedom struggle. He said, "Those who never participated in the freedom struggle are now in power." He referenced Prime Minister Modi's statement about Mangalsutra being snatched and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's statement about consequences.

Opposition to the Waqf Bill

Regarding the Waqf Bill, Sawant clarified that Shiv Sena UBT would not support it if it contained any flaws. He criticized the government's attempt to increase control over the Waqf Board through the nomination process. He expressed apprehension that similar nominations could eventually lead to non-Hindus being appointed to temple boards. He asserted Shiv Sena UBT's continued opposition to this.

Shiv Sena UBT's Support on Article 370

Sawant also mentioned Shiv Sena UBT's support for the revocation of Article 370 but raised questions about land deals happening in Kashmir. He questioned the nature of Hindu land deals in Kashmir and whether the government would enact a law against selling land belonging to Hindu religious sites.
