Iran Warns of Nuclear Weapons Development Following Trump's Threat
Last Updated: 1 day ago

Following U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to bomb Iran if it doesn't comply with a nuclear deal, Iran has retaliated with a warning that it would be forced to develop nuclear weapons if attacked by the U.S. or Israel.

Tehran: After U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iran if it doesn't comply with a nuclear agreement, Iran responded with a warning that it would be compelled to develop nuclear weapons if attacked by the U.S. or Israel. This statement was made by Ali Larijani, a top advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Larijani stated on state television on Sunday, March 31st, "We are not pursuing nuclear weapons, but if anyone attacks us, we will be forced to take this path for our own security." He added that Iran would bly oppose any military action, and if the U.S. or Israel attacked, Iran might resort to building nuclear weapons as it would have no other option.

Trump's Threat and Iran's Denial

On March 29th, Trump warned that if Iran refuses to comply with a nuclear agreement, he would unleash a bombing campaign the likes of which Iran has never seen. He also threatened Iran with secondary tariffs. Following this statement, Iran rejected direct negotiations, stating its preference for behind-the-scenes talks rather than engaging directly with Trump.

Warning to Israel as well

Larijani's warning extended beyond the U.S. to include Israel. He stated that an attack on Iran's nuclear program by the U.S. and Israel would have severe consequences. He asserted that Iran's nuclear program could not be destroyed by bombing and that such an attack would force Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

Escalating Tensions Between the U.S. and Iran

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have been escalating, particularly since Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement. While Iran has refused direct talks with Trump, the possibility of diplomatic negotiations between the two countries remains.

In this situation, Iran has warned the U.S. and Israel that if they act on their threats, Iran will be forced to develop nuclear weapons. This dangerous situation has heightened global concerns.
