Indian badminton star Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy experienced a devastating personal loss on February 20th. While competing in the 43rd PSPB Inter-Unit Badminton Tournament in Delhi, and on the day he was scheduled to receive the Khel Ratna award, his father, Kashi Vishwanathan, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack.

Sports News: The day held both immense professional promise and profound personal tragedy for Rankireddy. His family was en route to Delhi for the award ceremony when his 65-year-old father succumbed to a heart attack.

The 24-year-old Rankireddy subsequently withdrew from the tournament to return home. This event represents a significant setback both personally and in his badminton career.

Kashi Vishwanathan was a retired Physical Education teacher.

The news agency PTI, citing a family source, confirmed the tragic death of Kashi Vishwanathan, a retired physical education teacher. The loss deeply overshadows Rankireddy's nomination for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, a significant achievement in his badminton career. Rankireddy hails from Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh.
