Early Heatwave Sweeps Across North India
Last Updated: 1 day ago

A heatwave is intensifying across Delhi and most parts of North India, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in many areas. Intense sunshine and dry winds during the day are causing severe discomfort to residents.

Weather: Even before March ends, summer has arrived in Delhi and North India. Temperatures are steadily rising across the entire NCR region, including Delhi, and the Meteorological Department predicts further increases in the coming days. Conversely, the possibility of snowfall and rain remains in the hilly regions due to the influence of Western Disturbances. Let's examine the weather conditions across major Indian states.

Delhi-NCR to Experience Increased Heat; Uttar Pradesh to See Clear Skies

Delhi is expected to experience a significant increase in heat this week. According to the Meteorological Department's forecast, Delhi's minimum temperature could reach 18 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature could reach 38 degrees Celsius on March 26th. By March 30th, this is likely to increase to 40 degrees Celsius. Intense sunshine and hot winds during the day could lead to heatstroke.

Many cities in Uttar Pradesh will experience clear weather, but the impact of heat is expected to increase. In Lucknow, the minimum temperature will be around 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 30 degrees Celsius. Light cloud cover is anticipated in Varanasi, but there are no indications of rain.

Heatwave Alert for Rajasthan and Gujarat

Due to Western Disturbances in the Western Himalayan region, light to moderate rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with snowfall in higher altitudes. Srinagar and Gulmarg are likely to experience minimum temperatures between 2-5 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures between 12-15 degrees Celsius. Parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat will experience intense heat. Temperatures in Jaipur and Bikaner are expected to range between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius. Ahmedabad and Surat will also see temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted the likelihood of heatwaves in these areas.

Light Rain Expected in West Bengal and Jharkhand

Eastern India will see a slight change in weather. Kolkata and Darjeeling might experience light rain, with temperatures ranging between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of light showers in Ranchi, Jharkhand. South India will experience mixed weather conditions. Chennai and Madurai in Tamil Nadu could see temperatures ranging from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius. Conversely, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in Kerala are expected to have pleasant weather due to light to moderate rainfall.

Rain and Cool Temperatures Continue in Northeast India

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. Temperatures in Guwahati are likely to range between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius, and in Shillong between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius. Light snowfall is also possible in the higher altitudes of Arunachal Pradesh. India is experiencing diverse weather conditions; while Delhi and Western India are experiencing a heatwave, hilly regions anticipate rain and snowfall.
