Sports News: Shafali Verma, known for her explosive batting, demonstrated her versatility with a remarkable bowling spell. Playing for Haryana in the Under-23 One Day Trophy pre-quarterfinal, she took a hat-trick against Karnataka, propelling her team into the quarterfinals. This performance reaffirmed her all-round capabilities and bolstered her chances of a return to the national team.

Shafali Verma's Bowling Prowess

In the match against Karnataka, Shafali took three wickets for 20 runs in four overs. She dismissed Saloni P and Soumya Verma in the final two balls of the 44th over, before completing her hat-trick by clean bowling Namita Disuza on the first ball of the 46th over. This brilliant spell played a crucial role in restricting Karnataka to 217 runs.

Karnataka All Out for 217

Led by Nikki Prasad, Karnataka managed 217 runs in 49.3 overs. Mitali Vinod top-scored with 90 runs (87 balls), but lacked significant support from the other batters. Shafali's devastating bowling demolished Karnataka's middle order, giving Haryana a b chance to chase the target.

Haryana's Strong Batting Display

Chasing the target, Haryana secured victory thanks to impressive innings from Sonia Mendia (66 runs, 79 balls) and Tanisha Ohlian (77 runs, 77 balls). However, Shafali didn't contribute significantly with the bat, scoring only 18 runs off 12 balls before being clean bowled by Namita Disuza. Despite this, Haryana secured the win and progressed to the quarterfinals.

Shafali was dropped from the Indian team after the T20 World Cup last year, but has consistently performed well in domestic cricket. She also had an excellent Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 season.
