Amit Shah inaugurates Lachit Borphukan Police Academy during Assam visit. He recalled his detention, assault, and imprisonment during the Congress regime.

Amit Shah: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Assam on Saturday as part of a three-day visit to Assam and Mizoram. He participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Dergaon and addressed a public gathering. During this, he launched a b attack on the Congress, recalling his detention during the tenure of former Assam Chief Minister Hiteshwar Saikia.

Shah Recalls Detention During Congress Rule

In his address, Amit Shah stated that the Congress government in Assam had imprisoned him and subjected him to assault. He recounted, "We raised slogans against Indira Gandhi – ‘Assam ki galiyan suni hain, Indira Gandhi khooni hain’ (Assam's streets are silent, Indira Gandhi is a murderer) – and because of this, the Congress government arrested me and kept me in jail for seven days." Shah added that Assam is rapidly developing today, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for this progress.

Inauguration of Lachit Borphukan Police Academy

Amit Shah inaugurated the first phase of the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal were also present. Shah expressed confidence that the academy will become one of the top police academies in the country in the coming years. He thanked Chief Minister Sarma for naming it after Lachit Borphukan and mentioned that the biography of this great warrior is now being taught in 23 languages.

Large Investments Planned for Assam

Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the central government is taking significant steps for Assam's development. Besides investment proposals worth ₹5 lakh crore from a recently concluded business summit, the government is also bringing infrastructure projects worth ₹3 lakh crore to Assam.

CM Sarma's Vision for Smart Policing

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a state-of-the-art weapons simulator will be installed at the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy. This will enable the police force to prepare for real-world combat scenarios without risk and additional costs.

Mizoram Visit After Assam

Following his Assam visit, Amit Shah will travel to Mizoram. On March 16th, he will participate in the concluding session of the 57th annual convention of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) in Kokrajhar. This convention is being held from March 13th to 16th in the Bodofa Howthare area of Kokrajhar district.
