Bihar News: The State Election Commission has commenced extensive preparations to fill vacant positions in Bihar's municipalities. This involves conducting general elections in six municipalities and by-elections in 56 others. The process of preparing voter lists for the respective districts has also begun.
Draft Voter List to be Released on April 11th
According to the schedule released by the Commission, the draft voter list will be published on April 11, 2025. Following this, the process of filing claims and objections to the voter list will commence and continue until April 24th. After incorporating all revisions, the final voter list will be published on May 9, 2025.
List of Municipalities Holding Elections Released
The six municipalities where general elections will be held are: Kochad, Mehsi, Pakridayal, Khushrupur, Vikram, and Naubatpur. By-elections will be held in the remaining 56 municipalities to fill vacant positions. This will address administrative vacancies in local bodies.
Appointment Letters Issued to Gram Kachheri Secretaries
The state government has expedited the recruitment process for Gram Kachheri Secretaries, aiming to strengthen the judicial system at the panchayat level. The counseling and appointment of Gram Kachheri Secretaries in Patna district commenced on Friday.
45 Successful Appointments out of 65 Positions in Patna
In the first phase of counseling held at the Dashrath Manjhi Labour and Study Institute, Patna, 63 out of 65 selected candidates were called for 65 vacant positions. 13 remained absent, and 5 candidates were deemed ineligible. Appointment letters were given to the remaining 45 candidates through the Sarpanchs. Their contributions have also been approved by the department.
1583 Gram Kachheri Secretaries to be Appointed Across Bihar
According to the Panchayati Raj Department, a total of 1583 posts of Gram Kachheri Secretaries are vacant across Bihar. Following Patna, the recruitment of secretaries in other districts will also be carried out in a phased manner. Information regarding this will be provided through the department's social media and registered mobile numbers.
