Congress to Hold Third Session in Ahmedabad on April 8-9; 1700+ Members to Attend. CWC Meeting Today to Discuss Party Strategy. Event to be Held on the Banks of Sabarmati River.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat: The Congress party is set to hold its third All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Ahmedabad on April 8 and 9. A crucial meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) is scheduled for April 7, a day prior to the session, to deliberate on the party's future strategy, organizational changes, and the framework for upcoming assembly elections.

Session to be Held at a Historic Location

The Congress session will be held between the Sabarmati Ashram and Kocharb Ashram, situated on the banks of the Sabarmati River. Over 1700 elected and co-opted AICC members will participate in the session. The party has chosen the theme: "Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan aur Sangharsh" (The Path of Justice: Resolve, Dedication, and Struggle).

Crucial Decisions Expected at Congress Working Committee Meeting

The CWC meeting will be held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial in Ahmedabad. The meeting will discuss party policies, national issues, organizational strengthening, and empowering district presidents. Sources indicate that the CWC will finalize proposals and discuss making the party structure more accountable.

District Presidents May Receive Enhanced Powers

Recommendations to grant more authority and ensure greater accountability for Congress District Presidents may be put forth during this meeting. The party aims to strengthen its grassroots organization and improve its performance in assembly elections.

Who Will Attend the Meeting?

The CWC meeting will be attended by members, permanent and special invitees, Pradesh Congress Committee Presidents, the Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party, leaders of various councils, members of the Central Election Committee (CEC), former Chief Ministers, and Deputy Chief Ministers, among other senior leaders.

Congress's Historic Connection with Gujarat

This session will be the second Congress session in Gujarat since independence and the third since the party's formation in 1885. This year also marks the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi becoming Congress President and the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Therefore, this session in Gujarat holds significant historical and emotional importance for the Congress party.
