Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Congress has announced the launch of the ‘Mera Vote, Mera Adhikar’ campaign to raise voter awareness before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This campaign, running from March 22nd to April 14th, aims to educate people about their voting rights and expose potential electoral irregularities. Congress alleges that the BJP government is manipulating the voter lists. Under this campaign, Congress workers will go from village to village and city to city, educating voters about their constitutional rights and alerting the public to ensure fair elections.
Campaign Dedicated to the Constitution's Architect
The Congress has decided to continue this campaign until the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. During this time, Congress workers will engage with the public, explaining the power of their vote and ensuring they exercise their franchise correctly. Congress alleges that the BJP government is deliberately interfering with the voting rights of the weak and underprivileged sections of society to influence the electoral process.
Strategy Developed at Meeting; Congress Workers to Remain Active
To effectively implement this campaign, a joint meeting of the Youth Congress and NSUI was held at the Congress headquarters on Sunday. The meeting was attended by state Congress president Karan Mahra, Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Gurdeep Singh Sappal, national president of Youth Congress Uday Bhanu Chib, national president of NSUI Varun Chowdhury, and many other senior leaders. The meeting decided that party workers will go door-to-door, informing people about the voting process and adding names to the voter list.
Allegations of Voter List Manipulation Against BJP
Targeting the BJP government, CWC member Gurdeep Singh Sappal stated that the ruling party is manipulating voter lists for electoral gain. He said, “We have seen in many instances that names of the weaker and backward sections are being removed from the voter list, and outsiders are being added. Congress will expose this conspiracy.”
Nationwide Participation of Congress Workers
Congress will activate its workers up to the booth level to make this campaign nationwide. Party workers will go to every village, town, and city to educate people about the voting process and encourage them to verify, correct, and protect their voting rights.
Steps Towards Strengthening Democracy
State Congress President Karan Mahra stated that this campaign is not just Congress's but a movement to protect democracy. He said, "Every citizen's right to vote is a power, and any attempt to weaken this right will be bly opposed. Our goal is to engage the maximum number of people with this campaign."
Congress's Pledge for Fair Elections
Congress clarified that this campaign will not be limited to voter awareness but will also actively play a role in bringing any complaints of electoral irregularities to the Election Commission. Congress asserts that ensuring free and fair elections requires every citizen to be vigilant about their rights. The party appealed to all voters to participate in this campaign to protect their rights and contribute to maintaining fairness in the electoral process.
