Delhi News: The Delhi government has announced a significant decision to curb pollution. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa declared that from March 31st, 2025, petrol and diesel vehicles older than 15 years will be prohibited from fueling at petrol pumps.
No Petrol or Diesel for Older Vehicles After March 31st
Minister Sirsa stated that a ban on fueling vehicles older than 15 years will be enforced at all petrol pumps in Delhi after March 31st. The government will also inform the central petroleum ministry about this decision.
Strict Measures to Control Pollution
The government has decided to implement stringent measures to address Delhi's severe air pollution problem. These measures include:
- A ban on older vehicles.
- Mandatory installation of anti-smog guns in large hotels, high-rise buildings, and commercial establishments.
- Strict action against vehicles emitting excessive pollutants.
Identification Systems to be Installed at Fuel Stations
The government has further announced that special gadgets will be installed at petrol pumps to identify vehicles older than 15 years and prevent them from refueling.
Electric Buses to Replace CNG Buses
The government plans significant changes in public transportation.
- 90% of the city's CNG buses will be phased out by December 2025.
- These buses will be replaced with electric buses, aiming to improve the capital's clean and sustainable public transport system.
