Major Fire Destroys NTPC Solar Plant Warehouse in Gujarat

A major fire engulfed the warehouse of NTPC's under-construction 70-megawatt solar plant in Dahod, Gujarat, resulting in the near-total destruction of the warehouse. All employees and security guards are safe, and the fire department has extinguished the blaze.

Gujarat: A massive fire broke out at the warehouse of a 70-megawatt solar plant under construction by NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation), a central public sector undertaking, in Dahod, Gujarat. The incident resulted in the complete destruction of the stored materials. Officials reported that the fire started around 9:30 PM on Monday at the warehouse in Bhatiwade village. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Employees and Security Guards Safely Evacuated

Approximately seven to eight employees and four security guards were present at the site and were safely evacuated. Relief efforts began at 9:45 PM, but the fire spread rapidly due to b winds. The Fire Department worked throughout the night to control the blaze, finally bringing it under control by morning.

Fire Department's Extensive Efforts to Extinguish the Fire

The Fire Department deployed teams from Dahod, Godhra, Jhalod, and Chhota Udepur to the scene. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Bhandari stated that the b winds presented a significant challenge in extinguishing the fire.

NTPC's Central Public Sector Materials Destroyed

An NTPC employee reported that the warehouse contained materials for the 70-megawatt solar plant, which have been completely destroyed. NTPC will take necessary steps to address this loss.

The fire department and police officials worked throughout the night to bring the fire under control. While significant damage occurred, there were no fatalities. Relief efforts are still ongoing.
