Parliament's Budget Session Begins Today; President Droupadi Murmu to Address. The Union Budget will be presented on February 1st. The session will be held in two parts, with the opposition raising concerns about transparency.

Budget Session of Parliament: The Parliament's Budget Session commences today. It will begin with President Droupadi Murmu's address at 11:00 AM. This will be followed by the presentation of the Economic Survey. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on February 1st. The government plans to introduce 16 bills during this session.

Budget Session Duration and Key Events

The first part of the Budget Session will run until February 13th, while the second part will commence on March 10th and conclude on April 4th. Several important bills will be discussed during this period. The government appealed for cooperation from all parties in an all-party meeting held before the Budget Session. 52 leaders from 36 political parties participated in this meeting.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, stated that as it is the first session of the year, the President will address both Houses of Parliament jointly. This will be followed by the presentation of the Economic Survey, and the Union Budget will be presented on February 1st. Following the budget presentation, there will be detailed discussions on the President's address and the budget itself.

Parliament to Remain Closed on February 5th Due to Delhi Elections

Joshi also informed that Parliament proceedings will not be held on February 5th due to the Delhi Assembly elections. The first part of the Budget Session will conclude on February 13th, and the second part will begin on March 10th. During this period, the government has planned 16 bills and 19 parliamentary actions.

Opposition's Allegations

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi stated that the opposition has expressed concern over the one-sided functioning of Parliament. He alleged that the opposition's proposals in the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) were rejected, while the ruling party's amendments were accepted.

Furthermore, the opposition expressed grief over the recent accident during the Maha Kumbh and demanded a discussion on this issue in Parliament. Gogoi said the opposition wants the government to listen to all sides and respect democratic processes.

Key Bills to be Introduced During the Budget Session

The government plans to introduce 16 bills during this session. Some of the important bills include:

Judicial Reform Bill – To make the judicial process faster and more transparent.

Economic Reform Bill – To make economic policies more effective.

Education Amendment Bill – To implement reforms related to the new education policy.

Healthcare Bill – To improve healthcare facilities.

Clashes are expected between the opposition and the government on several issues during the Budget Session. The opposition's objections to bills introduced by the ruling party and discussions on various national issues will make this session significant.
