Uproar in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over Kathua Killings
Jammu Kashmir Assembly: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed a significant disruption due to the Kathua killings in the Bani area. The ensuing uproar led to the Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, ordering the expulsion of three MLAs, including two from the ruling National Conference (NC).
Expelled MLAs
During the debate on the Kathua killings, Pirzada Feroz Ahmad Shah, MLA from Devser (NC), raised the issue of three missing youths from his constituency and demanded an investigation. This led to protests from Mian Mehr Ali, NC MLA from Kangan, who joined Shah in the demonstration.
Despite the Speaker's attempts to restore order, both MLAs refused to relent and were subsequently removed from the Assembly with the assistance of marshals. Prior to this, Sheikh Khurshid, MLA from the Awami Ittehad Party, was also expelled for creating a ruckus demanding a discussion on the killings.
Action Against MLA Displaying Posters
During the proceedings, an MLA demanding an investigation into other killings displayed posters in the Assembly. On the Speaker's instructions, marshals promptly confiscated the posters and brought the situation under control.
Statement by MLA Pirzada Feroz Ahmad Outside the Assembly
Following his expulsion, Pirzada Feroz Ahmad Shah spoke to the media. He stated that three young men from his constituency went missing after attending a wedding.
"These three youths had reached Mir Bazaar, where their mobile phones switched off. Since then, there has been no trace of them. I tried to raise this issue in the Assembly, but I was not given a chance to speak and was expelled. This is a serious matter that the government should address immediately."
He added that the families of these youths are extremely worried and are demanding immediate action from the administration.
