RSS Urges UN Intervention Against Atrocities Against Hindus in Bangladesh, Calls for Global Support
RSS on Bangladesh Unrest: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has appealed to the United Nations for intervention against the atrocities being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh. The RSS's All India Representative Assembly passed a resolution condemning the ongoing repression and violence in Bangladesh over the past year. The resolution urged countries worldwide and the Hindu community to stand in solidarity with the oppressed minorities in Bangladesh.
Grave Concern Over Violent Activities
The RSS expressed deep concern over the sustained, planned violence and persecution carried out by Islamic extremists in Bangladesh. They cited attacks on temples, Durga Puja pandals, and educational institutions; desecration of idols; murders; looting of property; and atrocities against women. These incidents, the RSS stated, are grave examples of human rights violations, and denying their religious basis would be a disservice to the truth.
The Continuously Decreasing Hindu Population
The RSS also highlighted the continuous decline of the Hindu population in Bangladesh, which has fallen from 22 percent in 1951 to a mere 7.95 percent today. This, they argue, is a direct result of persistent oppression and violence. The government's and institutions' silence following last year's violence is particularly concerning.
Impact on India-Bangladesh Relations
The RSS also voiced concern over the consistent anti-India rhetoric emanating from Bangladesh, stating that it could severely damage relations between the two countries. They believe some international powers are attempting to create conflict and instability in India's neighboring regions, which could further impact bilateral relations.
The Importance of Shared Heritage Between India and Bangladesh
The RSS emphasized the shared culture and history between India and Bangladesh, highlighting that any upheaval in either country affects the entire region. They stressed the need for efforts to strengthen this shared heritage between India and its neighboring countries.
Courageous Resistance by Bangladeshi Hindus
The RSS commended the courageous and democratic resistance of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, who have peacefully confronted these atrocities. Hindu communities in India and around the world have also raised their voices in support of Bangladeshi Hindus and demanded their protection.
Support from the Indian Government
The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to continuing its efforts to ensure the safety and dignity of Hindu and other minority communities in Bangladesh. The government has raised this issue with the interim Bangladeshi government as well as on international platforms. The RSS urged the Indian government to maintain continuous dialogue to ensure the safety of the Hindu community in Bangladesh.
Appeal to the UN to Pressure the Bangladeshi Government
The RSS appealed to international organizations like the United Nations and the global community to take cognizance of the atrocities against Hindu and other minority communities in Bangladesh. They stressed the need to pressure the Bangladeshi government to stop these violent activities. Furthermore, the RSS called upon global leaders and institutions to unite and raise their voices in support of Bangladeshi Hindus and other minorities.
