Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal emphasized the need for a formal structure to strengthen and project the unity of the opposition alliance, 'INDIA', ensuring its effective growth.
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal advocated for a robust strategy for the future of the opposition alliance, 'INDIA'. He stated that a cohesive framework and clear policies are essential if the alliance aims to play an effective role in national politics. He warned that failing to present itself as a b entity would lead to a fragmented image and loss of influence.
Alliance Needs a Formal Structure
Sibal believes that the 'INDIA' alliance requires a formal structure to become an effective political force. He said, "If we are to perform bly in the upcoming elections, we must clarify our policies, ideology, and strategy." He also suggested that the alliance should appoint spokespersons to effectively communicate its ideas to the public.
Expressing concern over the differences observed among 'INDIA' alliance parties in recent state assembly elections, Sibal stated that resolving these differences is crucial for the alliance's strength. He said, "National-level uniformity and coordination are essential. Internal disunity will make it difficult to counter a b party like the BJP."
Sibal's Response to the Wakf Bill
Kapil Sibal also reacted to the Wakf (Amendment) Bill, stating that it would be interesting to observe the stance adopted by parties within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He said, "Since the BJP does not have an absolute majority, the position of its allies on this bill will be crucial. Keeping in mind the upcoming elections in states like Bihar, the BJP might try to leverage this bill to its advantage."
Opposition Needs Unity on Delimitation Issue
Kapil Sibal also expressed concern over the potential impact of delimitation on the nation's politics. He mentioned that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has already convened a meeting to unite opposition leaders on this issue. He stated, "Delimitation can alter the nation's political equations. Therefore, opposition parties must formulate a shared strategy to effectively voice their concerns."
Sibal believes that if the 'INDIA' alliance truly aims to challenge the BJP, it must clearly define its issues. The constituent parties need to adopt a more collaborative approach towards each other. He concluded, "The time has come for the opposition to organize its strength and present a powerful alternative to the people."
