Chandigarh: The Haryana government remains fully committed to elevating the state's infrastructure and urban development. The high-powered Works Purchase Committee meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, green-lighted various procurement and contract proposals totaling ₹109.30 crore. These large-scale development projects will be undertaken in major districts including Panipat, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Faridabad, Palwal, and Karnal.
Boost to Urban Development
The meeting approved several key projects to strengthen infrastructure in these districts. Particular emphasis was placed on accelerating the Smart City Mission and urban development schemes. Through negotiations with various contractors, the government achieved savings of ₹6.92 crore, showcasing efficient financial management in government projects.
Approved Major Projects
* Panipat: Construction of a state-of-the-art fire station at a cost of ₹17.85 crore, further strengthening the city's emergency services.
* Yamunanagar: Development of a smart lighting system at a cost of ₹16.50 crore. This project will involve installing new LED streetlights and replacing old ones, along with establishing a centralized control and monitoring system (CCMS).
* Ambala: Implementation of a smart street lighting system at a cost of ₹14.70 crore. This project will replace traditional streetlights with new LED lights and integrate them with the CCMS system.
* Karnal: Strengthening and modernization of the road from Meerut Road to Udham Singh Chowk and from the Community Center, Sector-9, at a cost of ₹7.90 crore. Additionally, under the Smart City Mission, the construction of a hostel block at Karnal's Kailash Hockey Stadium was approved at a cost of ₹13.25 crore.
* Faridabad: Redevelopment of Shani Mandir Road and Sector-28 Main Road under the Smart City project at a cost of ₹18.10 crore, aimed at improving the city's traffic management.
* Palwal: Construction of various lanes and drains in the Municipal Council area at a cost of ₹9.93 crore, while new roads and drains will be constructed in Wards 20 and 21 of Hodal Municipal Council at a cost of ₹11.07 crore.
CM Saini Issues Strict Instructions
During the meeting, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini issued clear instructions that all development works must be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He stated that any delays in projects would make the concerned contractors and officials accountable. The Chief Minister emphasized prioritizing the quality of construction work and reiterated that compromises on quality would not be tolerated at any level.
The approval of these significant projects will bring a new dimension to Haryana's infrastructure. Schemes like smart lighting, road improvements, and the hockey stadium will contribute to the state's progress.
