CM Bhajanlal Sharma's Sharp Attack
Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, "Rajasthan's brave warriors have always sacrificed for the motherland. The comments made by the Samajwadi Party MP on the great warrior Rana Sangha are not only an insult to the 8 crore people of Rajasthan but also to the entire nation."
He further stated, "Calling a brave man like Maharana Sangha, who endured 80 wounds while fighting the Mughals, a 'traitor' reflects the opposition's hateful mentality. The Samajwadi Party should apologize to the entire nation for this statement and take action against its MP."
Diya Kumari Speaks Out: An Insult to Valor Cannot Be Tolerated
The state's Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari, also reacted sharply to the SP MP's statement. She said, "The name of the valiant Maharana Sangha is on the tongue of every child in the country. To call him a traitor, a man who sacrificed his body, mind, and wealth for the motherland, is extremely shameful. This is not only an insult to Maharana Sangha but also to the valor and sacrifice of the entire Rajasthan and the nation."
Diya Kumari demanded that Ramjilal Suman publicly apologize, and that the Samajwadi Party should take a clear stand on the issue.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Condemns the Remarks
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also condemned the statement, saying, "In Indian history, Babur and Rana Sangha can never be compared. The flame of freedom that Maharana Sangha ignited played a crucial role in saving India from slavery."
He further added, "Some people do not hesitate to insult the great men of history just for the sake of vote-bank politics, but the country will never accept such a mentality."
Congress Leader Demands Strict Action
Senior Congress leader and former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas called the SP MP's statement unfortunate, saying, "Making derogatory remarks about Maharana Sangha in Parliament is not only reprehensible but also unforgivable."
He further stated, "The Government of India should enact a law that allows for the expulsion of MPs who make derogatory remarks about national heroes of history."
