Delhi Police filed an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal and others for violating the Public Property Act. Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP of exerting pressure to target only Kejriwal.
Saurabh Bharadwaj News: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reacted sharply to the filing of an FIR against Delhi's former Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. Former minister and party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj responded, stating, "The law is being mocked in India." He alleged that action was taken only against Kejriwal, despite the complaint also naming PM Modi and Amit Shah. He claimed the FIR was registered against Kejriwal only due to pressure.
Saurabh Bharadwaj's Statement
Speaking to news agency ANI, Saurabh Bharadwaj said that illegal posters and hoardings are ubiquitous on Delhi's walls, yet no FIRs are filed against those responsible. He cited the example of BJP leader JP Nadda, claiming a video exists showing him putting up BJP symbols on a government wall without facing any consequences. Bharadwaj stated that while complaints were also filed against PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and others, only Arvind Kejriwal was targeted with an FIR.
FIR against Kejriwal
Bharadwaj downplayed the incident, stating such cases are common during college elections, assembly elections, and general elections. He noted that it is the police's prerogative to decide whom to prosecute. He further suggested that significant pressure was exerted on the police, resulting in the FIR being filed only against Arvind Kejriwal.
Status of the FIR and Court Hearing
Delhi Police registered the FIR against Arvind Kejriwal and others for allegedly violating the Public Property Act. Delhi Police also submitted a compliance report to the Rouse Avenue Court, informing them of the FIR's registration. The case will be heard on April 18th.
