Dehradun: A change in the schedule for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Uttarakhand visit is anticipated. While the trip was initially slated for February 27th, it is now likely to occur on February 26th, the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. This change may be due to weather forecasts predicting heavy rain and snowfall in Uttarkashi district on February 27th.

Winter Tourism to Receive a Boost

The Uttarakhand government views this visit as a golden opportunity to promote winter tourism in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had earlier urged the Prime Minister to visit a prominent winter tourism destination to energize the sector. Prime Minister Modi's visit is expected to give a significant boost to winter tourism in Uttarakhand.

This visit could promote not only religious tourism but also adventure tourism, benefiting local businesses and hoteliers significantly. All eyes are now on the release of the Prime Minister's official itinerary and the benefits Uttarakhand will receive from his visit.

Proposed Itinerary

Prime Minister Modi may visit Mukhba, the winter abode of Gangotri Dham, and the tourist destination Harsil. During his visit, he may offer prayers to Goddess Ganga and address a public gathering in Harsil. Harsil, known for its natural beauty and serene environment, could gain new tourism opportunities from this visit.

Administrative Preparations in Full Swing

The Uttarakhand administration is actively preparing for the Prime Minister's potential visit. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi held a meeting with relevant officials to review arrangements. Instructions were given to ensure robust arrangements for the Prime Minister's welcome and security. Roads in Mukhba and Harsil are being repaired, and the garden department's premises in Harsil are being leveled for the Prime Minister's public meeting. Beautification work on Mukhba temple and village buildings is also underway.

During the Prime Minister's visit, the Tourism Secretary has been instructed to organize a special exhibition showcasing the state's local products in Harsil. This will promote Uttarakhand's traditional handicrafts, organic products, and local businesses. Road construction to the helipad in Bagori is in its final stages to facilitate the visit. Amenities such as parking, drinking water, electricity, and smart toilets are also being upgraded.
