Woman's Organ Donation Gives Life to Four After Brain Death

Shanti Devi Soni, a 58-year-old resident of Barmer district, Rajasthan, continued to demonstrate her humanity even after death, giving the gift of life to four people through organ donation. After being declared brain dead at Jodhpur AIIMS, her family made the momentous decision to donate her organs, enabling four individuals in need to receive life-saving transplants.

The goldsmith community (Swarnkar Samaj) in Barmer organized a tribute ceremony in her honor, and several leaders lauded the family's decision. Shanti Devi's selfless act serves as an inspiration to society.

Exemplary Courage Shown by the Family

Shanti Devi's son-in-law, Mukesh Soni, explained that she had suffered from a brain hemorrhage for the past month. After treatment in Barmer and subsequently in Jodhpur, doctors declared her brain dead ten days prior. However, the family did not lose hope and, after consulting with their community and relatives, made the crucial decision to donate her organs.

Tribute Ceremony Organized by the Community

Upon arrival in Barmer, members of the Swarnkar Samaj welcomed the flower-decorated ambulance carrying Shanti Devi's body and paid their respects by offering floral tributes. The decision is widely lauded within the community, marking the first organ donation within the Swarnkar Samaj of Rajasthan. Former Union Minister Kailash Choudhary praised Shanti Devi's family, stating, "By donating her organs, she has set a unique example of humanity. This act will inspire society."

Shanti Devi's Contribution as an Inspiration

Although Shanti Devi is no longer with us, her organs will continue to live on in four other individuals. Her noble act will serve as an inspiration to society, encouraging organ donation.
