CRPF personnel injured in IED blast in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was injured in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. The explosion occurred in the Mahadev Ghat area while the personnel was on patrol.

Attack during patrol

A senior police officer stated that a team of the 196th Battalion of the CRPF was on patrol in the morning when a personnel's foot triggered the pre-planted IED, causing the blast. The injured personnel was immediately admitted to the Bijapur district hospital.

IED blast in Narayanpur earlier

Earlier on Friday, Naxalites detonated IEDs at two locations in the neighbouring Narayanpur district. One villager was killed and three others were injured in these explosions.

Previous major incident in Bijapur

On January 6th, Naxalites detonated an IED, destroying a vehicle in Bijapur. Eight security personnel, including those from the District Reserve Guard and Bastar Fighters, were killed in the blast. The vehicle driver was also killed.

Security forces' action against Naxalites

Last week, security forces engaged Naxalites in an encounter near the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts. Five Naxalites, including two women, were killed in the encounter.

Authorities reported that four Naxalite bodies were recovered on Sunday and another on Monday.

Increasing Naxalite incidents

Recent days have seen an increase in Naxalite incidents. IED blasts and encounters are continuing in Bijapur and surrounding areas. Security forces are responding to these activities with intensified operations against the Naxalites.

Administration's appeal

The local administration has appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity. Officials stated that security forces are taking all possible measures to foil the Naxalites' plans through vigilance.
