Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, Tej Pratap Yadav, a former Bihar minister and RJD leader, received significant relief from the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi in the land-for-jobs scam case.
Bihar: Rajd leader and Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, Tej Pratap Yadav, received substantial relief from Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court in the land-for-jobs scam case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne granted bail to Tej Pratap Yadav, his sister Hema Yadav, and other accused on Tuesday, on a personal bond of ₹50,000 and a similar amount as surety.
Relief After Court Appearance
The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) filed a chargesheet against the accused, following which the court summoned former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tej Pratap Yadav, and daughter Hema Yadav. The court had summoned Lalu Yadav last month and instructed Tej Pratap and other accused to appear on March 11th.
What is the Land-for-Jobs Scam?
This scam dates back to 2004-2009, when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister. Allegations of irregularities surfaced in Group 'D' recruitments in the West Central Railway Zone (Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh). It is alleged that land belonging to several candidates was acquired at significantly undervalued prices or directly transferred to the Lalu family or their associates in exchange for railway jobs.
During its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against 78 individuals, including Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, their children, government officials, and private individuals.
Sword Hanging Over Tejashwi Yadav
The Special Judge also summoned Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, and directed him to appear before the court. Further significant developments are anticipated in this case. RJD leaders attribute this to politically motivated revenge by the BJP, while BJP leaders characterize it as action against corruption.
All eyes are now on the next hearing, where the evidence presented by the CBI and the defense arguments of the accused will be discussed. Lalu Yadav and his family may face further legal challenges in this case.
