Waqf Amendment Bill: The central government introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha today. The bill sparked controversy in Parliament, with some parties supporting it while several opposition parties vehemently opposed it. The government received support from parties like JD(U), TDP, and JDS, while opposition parties such as Congress, Samajwadi Party, and DMK bly opposed the bill. Congress termed it unconstitutional, while the Samajwadi Party called it an attack on the rights of Muslims.

Support from Muslim Women in Bhopal

Images emerged showing Muslim women in Delhi and Bhopal supporting the Waqf Amendment Bill. A large number of Muslim women in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, demonstrated in support of the bill. They held placards thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Protesters chanted slogans like, "Modi ji, keep fighting... we are with you."

Muslim Women's Support for Modi in Delhi

Muslim women in Delhi also voiced their support for the Waqf Amendment Bill. During the demonstration, women held placards reading, "Thank you Modi ji for ensuring the income from Waqf properties reaches its rightful beneficiaries and for including women and backward Muslims in the Waqf Board." The bill has created a divide within the Muslim community, with one faction welcoming it while another views it as an attempt to control Muslim religious properties.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh Targets BJP

Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh criticized the BJP over the bill. He stated, "People of the country should be cautious now. The BJP has begun seizing Waqf properties and handing them over to its friends. They will do the same with Gurdwaras, temples, and churches." The opposition alleges that the bill aims to bring minority religious properties under government control.

Opposition Parties Strongly Object

Congress leader Supriya Sule stated, "We will study this bill and discussions are ongoing. We stand with the I.N.D.I.A alliance, and the alliance will oppose this bill with full force." DMK MP Kanimozhi clarified that her party is completely opposed to the bill. She said, "Our Chief Minister MK Stalin has passed a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. We cannot abandon the minorities of this country." She alleged that the bill is part of a plan to bring minority properties under government control.
