The BLA warned China and Pakistan to leave Balochistan or face the consequences. Approximately 500 people, including a significant number of military personnel, are aboard the Jaffar Express.

Pakistan Train Hijacked: A major terrorist attack occurred on Tuesday in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province. The Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was hijacked by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) insurgents. Following the incident, the BLA issued a stern warning to China and Pakistan, urging them to leave Balochistan to save their lives.

Many Hostages Remain Trapped After 18 Hours

Eighteen hours after the hijacking, not all passengers have been released. The Pakistani army claims to have rescued 104 hostages and killed 16 militants during the operation. However, the safety of all passengers onboard remains unconfirmed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's Statement

Regarding the incident, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the attack occurred in a very inaccessible area, surrounded by mountains. Despite this, he affirmed that the military personnel are carrying out the operation with full force.

Balochistan: A Decades-Long Restive Region

Balochistan is considered Pakistan's most turbulent province. Since 1948, Baloch insurgents have been fighting against the Pakistani government. The people of this region have long demanded separation from Pakistan.

In recent years, increased Chinese activity in the area has led to a rise in attacks. China is undertaking numerous infrastructure projects, fueling discontent among the local population.

What are the BLA's Demands?

The BLA's primary objective is the secession of Balochistan from Pakistan. Their main demands include:

1. The complete withdrawal of the Pakistani government and military from Balochistan.
2. The immediate closure of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
3. A halt to the exploitation of mineral resources and the granting of rights to the Baloch community.
4. Rehabilitation for displaced people in Balochistan.

BLA Has Launched Similar Attacks Before

This is not the first time the BLA has targeted Pakistan or China. The Baloch insurgent group has previously attacked Chinese engineers, diplomats, and Pakistani soldiers. Chinese citizens working on the CPEC project have repeatedly faced BLA attacks.
