Amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, a significant diplomatic development has emerged. Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit India soon. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed this, stating that President Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation.

New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon be visiting India amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. This was confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday. He stated that India is currently making arrangements for President Putin's visit. During this visit, Putin will come to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This conference is being jointly organized by the Indian Embassy in Russia and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). Putin's visit is considered a crucial step towards further strengthening India-Russia bilateral relations.

Strengthening India-Russia Relations

This visit is taking place at a time when bilateral relations between India and Russia are constantly being discussed. Prime Minister Modi visited Russia last year to participate in the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. This visit took place when Russia was facing global criticism over the Ukraine war, but India, under its independent foreign policy, maintained b relations with Russia.

According to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, the Indian Embassy in Russia and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) are jointly organizing this conference. Putin's visit could chart a new direction in India-Russia bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Modi to Visit Russia on May 9

Meanwhile, there are also reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Moscow on May 9 to attend the parade held at the historic Red Square. This parade will be held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to the Russian news agency TASS, discussions are also underway regarding the participation of a formal unit of the Indian armed forces in this parade. If this plan is successful, a contingent of Indian soldiers could arrive in Russia at least a month in advance to participate in the parade preparations.

India and Russia have historically b relations. The two countries have extensive cooperation in areas such as defense, energy, trade, and space research. However, despite the sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries due to the Ukraine war, India has maintained a balanced relationship with Russia. President Putin's visit could further strengthen India's diplomatic power in the global political landscape. It will be interesting to see what important agreements are signed between the two countries during this visit.
