Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has made a significant and clear statement. In a conversation with news agency ANI, he stated that as of today, the Aam Aadmi Party is not formally a part of the 'India alliance'.
Sanjay Singh on India Alliance: Since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, there has been much speculation regarding the INDIA alliance (I.N.D.I.A Alliance), with questions arising about whether the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was still a part of it. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has now clarified the situation completely.
In the conversation with the news agency, Sanjay Singh clearly stated that as of today, the Aam Aadmi Party is not officially a part of the India alliance. "Our alliance was only for the Lok Sabha elections," he said.
Will AAP participate in the INDIA alliance meetings?
In response to this question, Sanjay Singh unequivocally stated that "We had already clarified our position that our relationship with the INDIA alliance was limited to the Lok Sabha elections." The party has bly opposed the government's policies in Parliament and will continue to do so, but this has nothing to do with the alliance. This statement makes it very clear that the Aam Aadmi Party will now independently decide its strategy in Parliament.
In this conversation, Sanjay Singh also clarified his party's agenda on the issues to be raised in Parliament. He said, "In Delhi, injustice is being done to the people of UP, Bihar, and Purvanchal. Their homes and shops are being demolished, bulldozers are being used. This is a very big issue for us and we will raise it vigorously in Parliament."
Furthermore, he mentioned Uttar Pradesh and said, "Government schools are being closed in UP." The Aam Aadmi Party will also seriously raise this issue in Parliament. He said sarcastically, "We will not go to Parliament with our mouths covered." As the opposition, it is our duty to raise our voice against wrong policies.
AAP's stand on Jammu and Kashmir also clear
When Sanjay Singh was asked about Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi's letter to the Prime Minister demanding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, he said, "The Aam Aadmi Party has been saying from day one that Jammu and Kashmir should get its rights. The people there should have the rights of the government they elected. Statehood should be restored."
With this statement by Sanjay Singh, it has become completely clear that the Aam Aadmi Party is no longer a part of the INDIA alliance. The party will follow a separate line in Parliament, but will continue to play its role as the opposition against the government.
