Aditi Govitrikar Voices Concerns Over Violence in Films Like 'Animal' and Its Impact on Mental Health

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Animal, which was released in 2023, was widely discussed for its violent scenes. Recently, in an interview, actress Aditi Govitrikar expressed concern about the negative impact of violence shown in films on mental health.

Entertainment: Violence-based stories and action-packed scenes are often discussed in the film world, but questions are also raised about their impact on mental health. Actress and psychologist Aditi Govitrikar recently expressed concern about the violent content in films like 'Animal' and 'Kabir Singh'.

She believes that such films can have a negative impact on the mental health of the audience and can affect their behavior and thinking.

Commentary on 'Animal' and 'Kabir Singh'

Aditi Govitrikar said in a conversation with 'Bollywood Bubble' that the impact of violence shown in films like director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'Animal' (2023) and Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani starrer 'Kabir Singh' is not limited to entertainment, but it also affects the mental health of the audience.

She said, "Violent films have a profound effect on a person's mind and can often inspire them to make wrong decisions." Aditi emphasized that a person's mind and thoughts are influenced by everything that comes into their daily routine — whether it is food or the content that they see and hear. She said,

"It is important that we pay attention to what we are 'feeding' ourselves mentally and physically, because it directly affects our thinking and behavior."

Adverse effects of regularly watching violent content

According to Aditi, when a person constantly watches violent films or series, it has a direct effect on their subconscious mind. Due to this, the person may experience problems like violent dreams, feelings of anger or aggression in sleep, and irritability. She said that continuous exposure to such content not only affects a person's happiness, but can also create tension in their relationships with the people around them. In the long run, it can weaken mental health.

Although Aditi specifically mentioned 'Kabir Singh', she also said that many films in Indian cinema remain in discussion due to excessive violence. These include hit films like 'Animal' and 'KGF'. She believes that the characters and their behavior shown in films often leave a deep impression on the subconscious of the audience. If the content is constantly violent or aggressive, it can gradually change the audience's behavior and way of thinking.

Aditi Govitrikar, who is also a psychologist by profession, clarified that mental health cannot be ignored along with entertainment. She suggests that viewers should be mindful of their viewing habits and prioritize positive and inspirational content when needed.
