Last Updated: 13 hour ago

A person, upset with a court verdict, threw a shoe at a judge in the Ahmedabad Sessions Court. The judge maintained calm, allowed him to leave, and instructed staff not to take any action.

Ahmedabad: A surprising incident occurred on Tuesday in the Sessions Court of Ahmedabad city, Gujarat. An appellant, displeased with the court's decision, threw a shoe at the judge. Police stated that the incident took place during the hearing, and it is unclear whether the shoe directly hit the judge.

As soon as the incident happened, court staff moved to apprehend the person. However, the judge, demonstrating peace and restraint, instructed them to release him and stated that no punitive action should be taken against him.

Judge Showed Tolerance

Police reported that the individual, angered by the verdict, came in a rage and threw the shoe. Court staff stopped the appellant, but the judge ordered him to be let go. Court employees were also instructed not to take any action.

This incident is being considered an example of restraint and peace within the judiciary. The judge, in discharging his duty, maintained a balance between legal principles and a humane approach.

Similar Incident Also Occurred in Supreme Court

Recently, a similar incident occurred before Supreme Court Chief Justice B.R. Gavai. A 71-year-old lawyer, Rakesh Kishore, allegedly attempted to throw a shoe. In that case too, the police interrogated him for three hours and released him as no formal complaint was lodged.

The lawyer's shoes were returned to him, and he was escorted out of the court premises. This highlights that during such unexpected incidents in the judiciary, restraint and security are prioritized.

Judiciary Security and Discipline

Recent incidents show that security in courts remains challenging. Uncontrolled behavior by appellants or lawyers in court can not only affect the hearing process but also pose a threat to the safety of judges.

Therefore, the police and court administration have decided to adopt strict surveillance and security measures. Cameras, security guards, and alert systems are being further strengthened within the court premises.
