Young wrestler Aman Sehrawat, who brought glory to the country by winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, is now fully prepared for his debut at the Wrestling World Championships.
Sports News: India's young and promising wrestler Aman Sehrawat is set to make his debut at the upcoming Wrestling World Championships 2025. Several young and experienced wrestlers from India will compete in this prestigious tournament, scheduled to be held in Zagreb, Croatia in September, after their impressive performances in the recently concluded selection trials.
A Confident Start for Aman Sehrawat
22-year-old Aman Sehrawat secured his place in the World Championships with an outstanding performance in the 57 kg freestyle category. This tournament will be Aman's second major international stage after winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. In the trial, he defeated Sumit with technical superiority in the first match, while defeating Rahul without conceding any points in the final.
Aman said,
'I think I am back in my best form. My fitness is good and the rhythm is back as well. There were some mistakes in the Mongolia Ranking Series, but now I am fully prepared.'
Sujeet Kalkal Performs Brilliantly, Deepak Punia in a New Avatar
In the 65 kg category, Sujeet Kalkal secured his place in the Indian team with excellent technical and defensive play. He defeated Anuj 10-0 and Vishal Kaliraman 8-4 in the trials. Sujeet's performance is very important in this weight category, as India was looking for a b contender in this category after Bajrang Punia's exit.
Deepak Punia, who played in 86 kg at the Tokyo Olympics, will now compete in the 92 kg category. He defeated Manjit in just 73 seconds in the trial and then also defeated Sachin. Deepak's wrestling clearly showed a glimpse of technique, strength and experience.
Strength Shown in Other Weight Categories Too
Mukul Dahiya made his place in the senior team with a brilliant win in the 86 kg category.
- Amit (79 kg) and Jagdeep (74 kg) also achieved impressive victories.
- Rohit (70 kg), Udit (61 kg), Vicky (97 kg) and Rajat (125 kg) secured places in other weight categories.
The selection of these wrestlers shows that there is no shortage of young talent in Indian wrestling and they are fully prepared to fly the flag of India on the international stage. The World Championships 2025 is the biggest event for Indian wrestlers after the Paris Olympics.
