Andhra Pradesh Launches ₹15,000 Annual Education Assistance Scheme

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched the 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme, providing annual assistance of ₹15,000 to students from classes 1 to 12. Over 6.7 million students will benefit.

Andhra Pradesh: In a landmark move to promote education, Andhra Pradesh's new NDA government has launched an ambitious scheme to strengthen school education and support economically weaker families. Under the 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme, students from classes 1 to 12 will receive annual financial assistance of ₹15,000. This scheme came into effect on June 12, 2025, benefiting millions of students in both government and private schools.

Scheme Structure and Disbursement of Funds

Under the 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme, ₹13,000 will be transferred directly to the parents' accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The remaining ₹2,000 will be allocated to the respective school for infrastructure development, sanitation, and facility improvements. This amount will be used for toilets, drinking water, sanitation, and other essential works in schools.

Over 6.7 Million Students to Benefit

According to government figures, approximately 6.727 million students in the state will benefit from this scheme. The scheme covers eligible students not only in government schools but also in private recognized schools.

Government's Objective and Vision

The main objective of this scheme is to make education accessible to all and reduce the number of children dropping out of school due to poverty. The scheme also promotes equality and inclusivity in education. This will ensure continuity in children's education and provide financial relief to parents.

Chief Minister's Promise and 'Super Six' Agenda

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced this scheme as part of his 'Super Six' promises during the assembly elections. The government's swift implementation demonstrates its commitment to fulfilling its promises.

Budget and Funding

The state government has allocated a total budget of ₹9407 crore for this scheme. Of this, ₹8745 crore will be directly transferred to the accounts of eligible students' parents. The government has set a deadline of July 5, 2025, for the scheme's implementation.

Who is Eligible for the Scheme?

  • Certain eligibility criteria have been set to avail the benefits of the scheme.
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh.
  • The student must be enrolled in classes 1 to 12.
  • The family should be living below the poverty line (BPL).
  • Monthly income should not exceed ₹12,000 in urban areas and ₹10,000 in rural areas.
  • The family must possess a ration card.
  • The beneficiary family should own less than three acres of irrigated land, less than 10 acres of dry land, or a total of less than 10 acres of agricultural land.
  • The family's electricity consumption should be less than 300 units in the past year.

How to Apply?

The government will soon release a portal for this scheme where eligible parents can apply. The application process will require documents such as Aadhaar card, ration card, income certificate, and school certificate. The entire application process will be online, eliminating the need for applicants to visit offices.

Private Schools Also to Benefit

A significant feature of this scheme is that its benefits are not limited to government schools. Eligible students studying in recognized private schools in Andhra Pradesh can also benefit from this scheme. This will improve both the quality and inclusivity of education.

Contribution to School Development

The ₹2,000 allocated to schools will be used to strengthen basic infrastructure. This will improve the learning environment in government schools, allowing students to study in better facilities.
